Kia Ora, A warm welcome from Victory Church. Whether you’re simply curious or seriously seeking, you will find life and belonging in our growing church family. Our vision statement is simply ‘Cross culture. Life in Jesus shared.’ Jesus said that he came to bring life – more and better than we can ever dream of. He calls us to discover our life in his, and to live our life in community. We celebrate the fact that we are such a diverse people of different cultures, ages and backgrounds. We love how God is bringing us together into one family with Jesus at the centre. We are committed to forming deep and supportive friendships, and reaching out to our community with the life-transforming goodness that Jesus brings.
We welcome and invite you to be part of this extraordinary life-changing, life-challenging community that Jesus has called us to be. We look forward to meeting you.
Rev. Allan Wasley – Priest-in-Charge
The Wasleys’ are both originally from Christchurch Diocese where Allan was ordained in the Christchurch Cathedral. Ministry wise Allan’s call was very clear and together he and Joy have served at Merivale, Woodend and Rangiora in Canterbury.
This was followed by appointment to a large Evangelical Anglican Church St Matthews in Dunedin. When they shifted from Dunedin to Nelson Diocese, it was to serve in Buller Parish on the West Coast, thence 12 years in Wakefield Parish.
Joy is a trained school teacher, and now uses those skills to work with grandkids, the chin children monthly, also she has taken up the role of Pastoral care and senior’s ministry in Victory Parish.
Allan was a Truck Driver and Waterside worker, whom God called to serve Him in Church Leadership. His strengths are in preaching and pastoral caring. Both have a pastoral heart and are solidly grounded in Scripture and following Christ in obedience to the Holy Spirit. They are delighted with the call to lead Victory during this interregnum season.

SERVICESWhen We Worship
Sunday 10:30 am Contemporary Service
Informal and relaxed with a band leading us in contemporary worship. We place a high value on studying God’s word and listening to the Holy Spirit. We love to share testimonies (stories) and encourage one another. Children play a significant part in this service, contributing to the music with instruments and singing before joining with other kids for the Victory Kids programme. Our creche area has comfortable couches for those with very young children. All are welcome. Services are followed by tea and coffee. We share lunch together on the first Sunday of every month – a great opportunity to grow friendships and have fun.
Wednesday 10:00 am Communion
A relaxed communion service followed by refreshments. All are welcome.
ConnectConnect Community For Adults | Young People | Children
Single, coupled, young or old come just as you are. Our social calendar caters for all life situations. Be involved in helping out at church and in the community. We get together for socials, meals and BBQs and build good friendships. We have lunch together as a church family every month – the first Sunday after the 10:30am service. Join one of the Life Groups which meet on various days and times during the week. Victory Seniors runs on Tuesdays at 1:00pm. To find out more contact us.
Our nine years and older meet during the 10:30am Sunday morning service to explore the Christian faith and how it impacts their lives. Through creative approaches such as DVD’s, YouTube clips, Mp4’s and an age appropriate programme they engage, debate and discuss real life issues. The aim is to allow the young people to encounter truth by sharing stories and asking questions whilst building friendships and drawing closer to God.
We welcome children of all ages, backgrounds and abilities. They are a gift and blessing to our community. Our 10:30am Sunday service is a hive of activity. Children and adults begin by participating together in the church auditorium. We put out a variety of musical instruments for children to play. There are flags to wave and bubbles to blow. After a few songs the kids leave the service to join the Victory Kids programme. For the five to eight year old’s we have an action-packed, fun-filled programme of age-appropriate games, creative crafts and story via the Jesus Storybook curriculum helps children learn about the Christian faith and grow in their relationship with God – whilst having a great time of course. The nine year old’s and above join the youth for an engaging programme using multimedia. We also have creche facilities for those that are under five with comfortable couches and play dough. Our Under 5 Jive programme starts at 9:45am every Friday during term-time. It’s a fun creative music and movement class for pre-schoolers and their parents or caregivers.
OUTREACHLocal & Global Missions
Reaching our Local Community
As William Temple once said, the church is the only organisation that exists for the benefit of its non-members. Victory Church is called to reach out in love and service to our wider community. We want to reflect the gospel mandate by being Jesus’ hands and feet – “to proclaim good news to the poor…to bind up the broken hearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners.” (Isaiah 61:1). There is a great deal of spiritual, emotional and physical need in the Victory area, and we believe that God has called us to reach out to this need. We don’t want to be a comfortable Christian clique, but a people that get out and get involved. Our Vicar and church members have worked with the Victory Community Centre on several initiatives. Highlights include hosting a free Christmas Eve Lunch at Victory Square, supporting the Victory Rainbow Treasure Hunt, and helping at Food for Families on Friday evenings. Our Victory Seniors’ group and Under 5 Jive programmes offer ways to reach out to the community, and foster relationships through which we can care for people and help them to know the love of Jesus.
Missions to The World
We support several missions and partners working abroad.
