Cabins
It was an unexpected surprise when The Salvation Army and Habitat for Humanity Nelson approached us to consider partnering with them to provide or vacant section to create a Cabins for Community.
It was a pleasant surprise. It matched our desire and willingness to support and care for people in our community.
Cabins for Community will provide on the surface what it sounds like, and much more. Seven cabins will provide a private space for seven single men on their journey from emergency accommodation to self-reliant living. A shared whare will be their kitchen and common living area, and a separate block will have ablution facilities. More than this Housing First (led by The Salvation Army) will offer a range of wrap-around services. Victory Church does not have the resources and skills to give in-depth support, but we know how to be good neighbours. We are looking forward to welcoming and getting to know our new neighbours.
